Role Description The Custodian is a part-time, on-site role based in Waterloo, ON, responsible for maintaining cleanliness and order throughout the facility. Day-to-day tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting common areas, restrooms, locker rooms, and offices. The Custodian will empty trash and recycling receptacles, restock supplies, and ensure washrooms and high-traffic areas are kept sanitary and presentable.

Additional duties may include light maintenance work such as changing light bulbs, reporting repair needs, and assisting with room setups and breakdowns for events. The role involves following safety procedures, using cleaning equipment and products properly, and collaborating with other staff to ensure a safe, welcoming environment for members and guests.

Qualifications

• Ability to perform routine cleaning tasks, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and restroom sanitation.
• Capacity to handle basic building upkeep, such as minor maintenance tasks, safe use of cleaning equipment, and reporting facility issues promptly.
• Strong attention to detail and time management skills to complete assigned duties efficiently and consistently.
• Good communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with supervisors and colleagues and respond to member needs professionally.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift moderate weights, and perform manual tasks throughout the shift.
• Reliability and punctuality, with a willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends as needed.
• Previous custodial, janitorial, or facility maintenance experience is an asset but not required.
• Commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and respectful environment for all members, guests, and staff.
