About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to provide operational support, administration, maintenance, monitoring, and optimization of enterprise database environments supporting mission-critical applications and services.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring database availability, performance, security, integrity, and recoverability across multiple database platforms, including Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, and Oracle environments. This role requires close collaboration with infrastructure teams, application support teams, developers, architects, vendors, and project stakeholders to support both legacy and modernized enterprise systems.
In addition to database administration responsibilities, the successful candidate will contribute to data architecture discussions, support data-driven decision-making, and help define key metrics and KPIs aligned with business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Database Operations & Support
- Provide day-to-day operational support for enterprise database environments.
- Monitor database health, system availability, storage utilization, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve database incidents, service requests, and production issues.
- Support production, development, testing, disaster recovery, and high-availability environments.
- Participate in on-call support and after-hours maintenance activities as required.
Database Administration
- Administer, maintain, patch, upgrade, and configure:
Microsoft SQL Server
- Perform database installations, migrations, refreshes, cloning, and environment setup.
- Manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery processes.
- Implement and maintain database security, permissions, roles, encryption, and compliance controls.
- Conduct capacity planning and storage management activities.
Performance Optimization
- Analyze and optimize database performance, queries, indexes, and execution plans.
- Identify and resolve application and database performance bottlenecks.
- Support clustering, failover, replication, and high-availability technologies.
- Implement proactive monitoring and alerting solutions.
Change & Release Management
- Support deployment, release management, and change management activities following ITIL best practices.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Participate in technical reviews, root cause analysis, and post-incident investigations.
Project & Modernization Initiatives
- Support modernization, migration, and infrastructure upgrade projects.
- Collaborate on database design and implementation strategies.
- Assist with cloud, virtualization, and hybrid infrastructure initiatives.
- Support technology lifecycle and upgrade planning activities.

Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with SQL Server 2019, 2022, and 2025
- Experience with SQL Server Failover Clustering
- Deep expertise in Always On Availability Groups
- Strong understanding of Backup & Recovery and HA/DR strategies
- Experience performing SQL Server upgrades and migrations
- Hands-on experience with at least one of:
Oracle 19c
- DB2 for Windows
- Experience designing and implementing REST API integrations
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and database performance tuning skills
- Experience with change management and release management processes
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications
- Cloud and hybrid infrastructure experience
- Automation and scripting for database administration
- Experience with monitoring and enterprise management tools
- Relevant SQL Server, Oracle, or DB2 certifications
- Experience in Agile delivery environments
