Due to strong growth, we are currently recruiting for a Plant Technician who will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and efficiency of power generation systems, on a key Dublin based project.
Position Overview
The Plant Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair of power generation equipment and associated balance-of-plant systems, while maintaining compliance with all OFS health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operating power generation equipment safely and efficiently in accordance with approved operating procedures.
- Monitoring plant performance through control systems, alarms, and local inspections.
- Starting and stopping units as required including bringing units online or offline, depending on power demand
- Conducting routine operational checks and inspections of generation assets and auxiliary systems.
- Maintaining accurate operational logs, shift handovers, and maintenance records.
Maintenance Activities
- Performing planned preventive maintenance activities on power generation equipment and associated systems.
- Carrying out routine servicing, inspections, and equipment condition monitoring.
- Ensuring maintenance tasks are completed in accordance with OEM procedures and OFS standards.
Fault Diagnosis & Repair
- Diagnosing mechanical, electrical, and operational faults using plant documentation, alarm data, and diagnostic tools.
- Troubleshooting power generation equipment and supporting systems to identify root causes of failures.
- Performing corrective maintenance and repairs to restore plant availability.
- Escalating complex technical issues where specialist support is required.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Maintaining strict adherence to OFS Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality procedures.
- Identifying and reporting hazards, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Ensuring housekeeping standards are maintained throughout the site.
- Contributing to plant reliability and performance improvement initiatives.
- Participating in operational reviews and supporting implementation of best practices in maintenance and operation.
Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant engineering qualification (Mechanical, Electrical, Electromechanical, Power Generation or similar).
- Previous experience operating, maintaining, troubleshooting, or commissioning power generation equipment such as diesel generators, gas engines, gas turbines, reciprocating engines, or temporary power generation assets.
- Practical knowledge of Balance of Plant (BoP) equipment including switchgear, transformers, fuel systems, cooling systems, pumps, compressors, and auxiliary plant equipment.
- Experience working with electrical and mechanical systems and interpreting technical manuals, drawings, schematics, P&ID's , SLD's and OEM documentation.
- Knowledge of safe systems of work
- Familiarity with control systems, SCADA, PLCs, or plant monitoring systems would be advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a rotating shift team in a fast-paced operational environment.
