Job Description

We are a well-established Ontario property management company seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Property Accountant to join our growing team. This position is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys managing the full accounting cycle and working in a fast-paced property management environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of Condominium and Commercial properties.
  • Process and post Accounts Receivable payments, including cheque and electronic payments.
  • Process and post Accounts Payable invoices.
  • Prepare and issue cheques and electronic payments to vendors.
  • Reconcile bank accounts and general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare monthly and year-end journal entries.
  • Produce complete monthly financial statement packages and working papers for Condominium Corporations and Commercial properties.
  • Assist with annual audits and year-end working papers.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Respond to inquiries from property managers, board members, vendors, and clients.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and applicable legislation.
  • Perform other accounting and administrative duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2โ€“5 years of full-cycle accounting experience, preferably in the property management industry.
  • Experience with condominium and commercial property accounting is considered an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, bank reconciliations, journal entries, and financial statement preparation.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
