Key Responsibilities (State the primary duties and tasks of the position)
\n\n1. Audit Strategy & Governance
\n• Develop and publish annual and multi-year HSE Audit Plan based on operational risk,
\nchemical hazards, compliance gaps, and historical site performance.
\n• Develop and implement advanced audit tools including operational safety checks, human–
\nmachine interface risks, chemical compatibility risk, and emergency preparedness checks.
\n• Design, standardize, and periodically revise audit checklists, scoring systems, compliance
\nframeworks, and KPIs aligned with Responsible Care, IS 14489, ISO standards, and chemical
\nindustry best practices.
\n• Monitor global and regulatory developments impacting specialty chemical sector and update
\ninternal audit frameworks accordingly.
\n\n2. Structured and surprise audits across all manufacturing units and high-risk processes including solvent handling, bulk transfers, hazardous waste management, reactor operations, storage, utilities, and emergency response systems.
\n\n3. Conduct detailed verification of compliance to:
\n• Statutory requirements under chemical and environmental regulations
\n• Responsible Care Codes of Practice
\n• ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and other corporate HSE standards
\n• Process Safety elements including HAZOP follow-up, static electricity control, flammability
\nmanagement, and hazardous reaction controls
\n\n4. Identify systemic risk through audit to prevent chemical exposure, runaway reactions, spills,
\nstatic electricity hazards, fires, or explosion risks.
\n\n5. Conduct leadership-level briefings, site opening and closing meetings, and escalation sessions for overdue or critical non-conformities.
\n\n6. Benchmarking, audit scoring, and maturity index reporting for continuous improvement and
\ncorporate visibility.
\n\n7. Audit reports, and top risks summary. Sharing audit highlights periodically with site leadership, corporate HSE leadership, Apex committees, and senior management.
\n\nQualification : B tech in chemical engineering or environmental engineering is compulsory
\nand experience in oil and gas/ chemical/ petrochemical/ agrochemical/ paint manufacturing industry only
\n\nNEBOSH Diploma, Certified Auditor, ISO Lead Auditor, RC Auditor
\n\nExperience : 12–18 years in specialty chemical or hazardous chemical operations with
\nminimum 5 years in HSE auditing and compliance governance
\n\nExperience in multinational chemical industry or Responsible Care verified environment
\n\nMSIHC Rules, Hazardous Chemicals Handling Rules, Waste Management Rules, ISO 45001,
\nISO 14001, IS 14489, NFPA, static electricity control, solvent safety, emergency response
