This role offers the opportunity to work directly with ambitious SME owners across a broad range of industries, while helping to shape the future direction of the tax function and develop the next generation of tax professionals.

What You'll Actually Do

Client Delivery & Technical Excellence

  • Manage, review and complete a portfolio of corporation tax returns and related filings for corporate clients.
  • Manage, review and complete income tax and partnership tax returns for a private client portfolio.
  • Provide advice on capital gains tax matters, including research into available reliefs and tax-efficient planning opportunities.

  • Deliver VAT and indirect tax advice on a range of client matters, including property-related transactions.
  • Prepare ad hoc tax planning reports and advisory projects across multiple tax heads.
  • Research complex tax technical matters, including areas such as R&D tax credits and Interest Limitation Rules, ensuring clients receive clear and practical advice.

Revenue Compliance & Risk Management

  • Act as a key contact for Revenue-related matters, including Compliance Intervention Notifications and Revenue enquiries.
  • Advise clients on phased payment arrangements and other Revenue compliance obligations.
  • Ensure all compliance work is delivered accurately, efficiently and in accordance with legislative requirements.

Business Development & Client Relationships

  • Build trusted relationships with clients, acting as a proactive adviser rather than simply a compliance provider.
  • Identify opportunities to broaden client engagement and introduce additional services from across the wider firm.
  • Support the continued growth of the tax practice through a commercial and client-focused approach.

People Leadership & Team Development

  • Manage and oversee the tax team to achieve departmental objectives and key performance metrics.
  • Mentor, coach and support team members in their professional development and technical growth.
  • Play an active role in performance management, training and appraisal processes.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on delivering best-in-class client service.

What You'll Bring

Essential

  • CTA qualified tax professional.
  • Minimum of 3 years' post-qualification experience across corporation tax.
  • Strong technical tax knowledge with the ability to apply legislation in a practical commercial context.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with a client-first approach.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and client priorities.

Nice to Have

  • Broad exposure across multiple tax heads including income tax, VAT and capital taxes.
  • Experience managing Revenue interventions and complex compliance matters.
