About the Opportunity

Altis Recruitment is partnering with a growing Canadian professional services organization to recruit a Chief Financial Officer for a newly created executive leadership position. As the organization enters its next phase of growth, the CFO will bring greater financial visibility, structure and insight to support its senior leadership and equity partners.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accomplished Corporate Controller, Director of Finance or VP Finance who is ready to step into their first CFO role. You will combine hands‑on financial leadership with the confidence to present to senior stakeholders, translating financial results into clear, straightforward information that supports decision-making.

What’s In It for You

You’ll join a collaborative, entrepreneurial organization where you can shape a newly created finance leadership role and have meaningful exposure to senior decision-makers. The package includes four weeks of vacation, benefits effective immediately, RRSP matching, performance-based incentives and opportunities to introduce new technology, automation and process improvements.

Your Responsibilities

  • You’ll lead monthly financial reporting, ensuring leadership receives accurate and timely information on performance, cash flow and profitability.
  • You’ll oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial planning while communicating key trends and results to senior leadership and equity partners.
  • You’ll provide oversight across accounting operations, including AP, AR, reconciliations, GL activities, controls and month-end processes.
  • You’ll partner with external accounting and tax professionals on year-end financial statements, audit, tax and compliance requirements.
  • You’ll strengthen reporting processes, controls and financial systems as the organization continues to grow.
  • You’ll assess opportunities to leverage technology, automation and potentially new financial systems to improve efficiency.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, ideally at the Controller, Director or VP Finance level.
  • CPA designation is required.
  • Strong experience across financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, month-end, year-end and financial controls.
  • Demonstrated ability to present financial information confidently and clearly to executives, Boards, partners or other senior stakeholders.
  • Experience in professional services, consulting, advisory, legal, communications or another entrepreneurial environment is preferred.
  • A hands‑on, proactive leadership style with strong business judgment and the ability to simplify complex financial information.
  • Strong technology aptitude, with an interest in automation, AI or finance transformation considered an asset.

Note from the Hiring Manager

“We’re looking for someone who can be a true multi‑tool finance leader. Someone who is confident with the numbers, can keep things simple when speaking with leadership, and is equally comfortable rolling up their sleeves and getting into the details.”
