Please note that the advertised salary for this position is subject to the pending 2026/2027 national pay award. The final salary will be adjusted accordingly once this has been agreed. As a System Administrator Apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced colleagues to support the administration, maintenance and development of the Council's HR and Payroll system, helping colleagues across the organisation while building the knowledge and experience needed for a career in systems administration.
The role You'll support a wide range of activities including:
- Maintaining and developing the Council's HR and Payroll system
- Assisting with system configuration, user access and permissions
- Supporting colleagues with system queries and troubleshooting issues
- Testing system updates and enhancements
- Assisting with data validation and reporting
- Assistant with developing guidance and support materials for users
- Providing excellent customer service to colleagues across the Council
The apprenticeship Your apprenticeship will last 2 years and on successful completion you will achieve a Level 3 Diploma in Digital Infrastructure Engineering. Training will be delivered through a combination of workplace learning, online learning and offsite workshops, which may involve occasional travel., + Human Resources Advice and Administration: Contracts, Absence; Appraisals; Contracts; Disciplinaries; Grievance; Job evaluation; Managing change; Recruitment and onboarding. + Health, Safety and Wellbeing: Advice; Compliance; Risk assessments. + Learning and Development: E-learning; Events; Qualifications panel; Training. + Engagement and Wellbeing: Ceri+; Internal Communications; Recruitment Marketing. + Pay and Benefits: Payroll; Pensions; Timesheets. + Systems: Ceri System and Development; Data and Reporting.

- Is reliable, professional and customer focused, Please note that apprenticeship eligibility is subject to training provider criteria. Applicants who already hold a higher level qualification, such as an HNC, HND or degree in an IT-related subject, may not be eligible to undertake this apprenticeship.
