Retail AP & Inventory Accounting Team Lead

Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Retail AP & Inventory Accounting Team Lead to lead a high-performing team responsible for Accounts Payable, Inventory Accounting, and Financial Controls activities.

Key Responsibilities

\n

\n
• Lead end-to-end Inventory Accounting and Accounts Payable processes.
\n
• Oversee month-end and quarter-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
\n
• Manage inventory, AP, GR/IR, accrual, clearing account and balance sheet reconciliations.
\n
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, SOX requirements, and audit standards.
\n
• Investigate and resolve complex accounting discrepancies, aged balances, and reconciling items.
\n
• Drive process improvements, standardisation, automation, and operational excellence initiatives.
\n
• Partner closely with Finance, Operations, Field Accounting, and business stakeholders.
\n
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a team of accounting professionals.
\n
• Act as an escalation point for operational and stakeholder issues.
\n

What We're Looking For

\n

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, or related discipline

\n

Strong experience in:

\n

\n
• Inventory Accounting
\n
• Accounts Payable (AP)
\n
• Balance Sheet Reconciliations
\n
• GR/IR Reconciliations
\n
• Month-End Close
\n
• Financial Controls & SOX Compliance
\n
• SAP (MIRO, MIGO, FBL1N preferred)
\n

Proven people leadership and stakeholder management experience

\n

Ability to drive continuous improvement and deliver results in a fast-paced environment

\n

Preferred Background

\n

\n
• Retail, FMCG, Manufacturing, Shared Services, or Global Business Services (GBS) environment
\n
• Experience leading process transitions and change initiatives
\n
• Exposure to automation and process improvement projects
