With our head office in Brampton, ON, and terminals in Langley (BC), Calgary (AB), and Montreal (QC), we specialize in long-haul, temperature-controlled LTL and FTL intermodal transportation from coast to coast. As our operations continue to grow, we are looking for a dedicated Dispatcher to join our team and support our commitment to reliable, efficient service.
Position Overview
The Dispatcher plays a key role in day-to-day operations by coordinating drivers, ensuring timely pickups and deliveries, and acting as a communication hub between customers, drivers, and internal teams. This role requires strong organization, quick decision-making, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Schedule delivery and pickup appointments with shippers, receivers, and distribution centers via phone and email.
• Plan and assign next-day routes for LTL and FTL operations.
• Monitor driver movement using tracking systems; maintain regular communication to ensure efficiency and compliance.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to pickups, deliveries, delays, and route changes.
• Update shipment statuses in the internal system (scheduled, picked up, in transit, delivered, exceptions).
• Respond promptly to incoming emails and phone calls from customers, providing accurate shipment updates.
• Report and manage shipment refusals (damage, wrong product, temperature issues) and coordinate next steps with customers.
• Dispatch drivers according to workload, schedules, and operational priorities; support emergency or last-minute adjustments.
• Perform accurate and timely data entry and documentation.
Required Skills & Competencies
• Experience managing LTL/FTL dispatch operations.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in fast-moving situations.
• Ability to prioritize tasks from most urgent to least urgent.
• Clear, professional communication with drivers, customers, and internal teams.
• Confident decision-making and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of the Greater Toronto Area and Greater Montreal Area is an asset.
• Proficiency with dispatch software, email systems, and general computer applications.
Education & Qualifications
• High school diploma (post-secondary education is an asset).
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new systems and processes.
• Minimum 2 years of truck dispatching experience.
