Elementary Teacher 2026-27

Edmonton Islamic Academy is seeking a qualified and passionate full-time Elementary Teacher to join our growing Grade 1 team. We are looking for an outstanding and dedicated educator who is committed to fostering a positive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.

The ideal candidate is passionate about working with children and can design flexible, student-centered programs that support academic success and personal growth. This role requires an individual who can motivate students to develop the skills, attitudes, and knowledge needed for a strong educational foundation, while building meaningful relationships with parents, staff, and the wider school community.

Key Responsibilities

• Create a positive, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment that supports student learning and well-being
• Plan and deliver instruction aligned with Alberta curriculum outcomes
• Implement a variety of instructional strategies, including project-based learning
• Support diverse learners using differentiated teaching methods
• Integrate technology (e.g., SMART Boards, iPads, STEAM resources) into daily instruction
• Assess and evaluate student progress; maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with parents
• Develop course outlines and learning objectives in alignment with curriculum guidelines
• Maintain strong classroom management and a calm, professional approach in a fast-paced environment
• Collaborate with colleagues, participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school initiatives
• Build and maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, and the community
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and contribute positively to a faith-based school environment

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor of Education (B.Ed.) or higher from an accredited institution (or equivalent)
• Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate or Interim Professional Certificate
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Proven classroom management skills
• Understanding of current, research-based instructional practices
• Experience integrating technology into teaching and learning
• Commitment to inclusive education and student success
• Ability to multitask and thrive in a dynamic school environment
• Experience in a faith-based or culturally diverse school setting is considered an asset
