Java & AWS Engineer - Manchester

Contract: 6 months

Working Pattern: Hybrid - 1 day per week onsite
Hours: 37.5 hours per week

This is a *Manchester* based role with an excellent immediate start within a Global Technology Client that is working on *Building and maintaining Back End services using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.*

The Role

Our client is looking for 3 Software Engineer II contractors to join its Attractions Connectivity team.

You'll help build and operate Back End services that integrate with external partners, working across cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, APIs, and production operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Back End services using Java and Spring/Spring Boot.

• Develop and operate cloud-native services on AWS and Kubernetes.

• Work with Kafka and event-driven systems.

• Design and integrate HTTP APIs with external systems.

• Build reliable, scalable, secure, and observable services.

• Troubleshoot production issues and improve system performance and reliability.

• Contribute to technical design, code reviews, testing, and CI/CD.

• Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Essential Skills

• Strong commercial software engineering experience.

• Strong Java/Spring/Spring Boot experience.

• Hands-on AWS experience.

• Experience with Kubernetes or similar container platforms.

• Experience with Kafka or other messaging/event-streaming technologies.

• Experience with APIs and distributed systems.

• Understanding of resilience, retries, timeouts, idempotency, and observability.

• Experience with automated testing and CI/CD.

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Desirable

• Experience with external partner integrations.

• Experience with high-scale or event-driven systems.

• Experience with data ingestion and transformation.

• Infrastructure-as-code or platform engineering experience.

• Experience in travel, E-commerce, marketplaces, or similar environments.
