$43.16 per hour + 12% super | $0.91/km travel reimbursement
Join The Drama Toolbox
Established in 1996, The Drama Toolbox is a leading provider of educational drama incursions across Sydney and Melbourne.
Our experienced team uses drama, imagination, movement, costumes and puppetry to create engaging learning experiences for preschool and primary-aged children. Behind every educator is an established office and teaching team providing the resources, training and support needed to deliver exceptional programs.
And importantly, our programs are designed to leave children and teachers with a smile on their faces and a spring in their step!
The Role
We're looking for an experienced educator to join our Sydney team in a fixed-term, part-time maternity leave replacement position from Monday 21 September 2026 to Wednesday 29 September 2027.
The position is 3 days per week – Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday – during school terms, providing a consistent and clearly defined working week.
You’ll travel to primary schools, preschools, childcare centres and vacation care programs across metropolitan Sydney, delivering our established drama incursions, with up to five workshop sessions scheduled per day.
A key part of this role is being able to quickly read the room – assessing an unfamiliar group, building rapport and adapting your delivery while maintaining the energy, structure and curriculum outcomes of the program.
You’ll bring your experience as an educator together with strong storytelling, group management and facilitation skills to create memorable learning experiences through drama.
Why Work With Us?
If you love teaching but could happily live without the marking, assessments, reports and parent interviews, this role offers a very different way to use your skills.
We offer:
Monday–Wednesday working days during school terms
$43.16 per hour + 12% superannuation – equivalent to $48.34 per hour including super
$0.91/km reimbursement for eligible work-related travel
Pro-rata paid annual and personal/carer’s leave in accordance with the National Employment Standards
Paid on-site training
Paid professional development
Paid uniforms
Ongoing mentoring and support
No classroom assessment, report writing or parent liaison responsibilities
No classroom duty-of-care responsibilities
An established library of lesson plans, costumes, puppets and teaching resources
Training & Professional Development
As part of your induction, orientation and training may require up to two weeks based at our Melbourne Head Office.
Team Professional Development is also held twice each year during the April and September school holiday periods. Attendance is required and, on these occasions, there may be a variation to the usual Monday–Wednesday working pattern – for example, working Friday in place of Tuesday. Any variation will be negotiated well in advance.
The April 2027 Professional Development may require attendance at our Melbourne Head Office.
