Job Description
Due to continued growth, we have an opportunity for an experienced Accountant to join our team. We are a small team that prides ourselves on delivering superior accounting, taxation and advisory services to our clients. Required Skills:
· At least 2 to 3 years of experience in an Australian bookkeeping, accounting or taxation role.
· Relevant accounting qualification, degree; currently studying towards CA, CPA or equivalent is desirable.
· Basic to intermediate understanding of Australian accounting and taxation concepts.
· Experience with bookkeeping, bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations.
· Exposure to payroll processing, including fair-work award rates.
· Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.
· Excellent communication skills including verbal & writing skills.
· Experience using Xero, Xero Practice Manager, etc.
· Ability to communicate professionally with clients and respond to queries.
· Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
· Interest in using artificial intelligence tools and learning new technologies.
· Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a remote team.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Under supervision and with opportunities for ongoing development, your responsibilities may include:
· Maintaining bookkeeping records for Australian clients.
· Processing transactions and performing bank and account reconciliations.
· Assisting with end-of-financial-year payroll finalisation and Single Touch Payroll reporting.
· Communicating directly with clients to obtain information, resolve queries and support timely completion of engagements.
· Assisting with the preparation of financial reports and income tax returns for companies, trusts, partnerships and individuals.
· Assisting with the preparation and lodgement of BAS, IAS and GST-related work.
· Liaising with the ATO and other government departments or service providers, where required.
· Maintaining accurate working papers and supporting documentation.
· Learning and applying new accounting software, systems and AI-enabled tools.
· Supporting senior accountants with general accounting, taxation and advisory tasks.
