As a leading North American energy services company, we provide innovative energy solutions that help clients reduce energy costs and GHG emissions, support electrification, and enhance grid efficiency. With over 20 years of expertise, we’re trusted by North America’s largest energy users, power producers, and utilities.

Why Join Rodan:

  • Top Talent & Strong Culture: Collaborate with high-performing, passionate individuals who are committed to excellence and sustainability

What Makes This Role Great:

  • This is a rare opportunity to step into a business that is already operating at scale and take it to the next level

Rodan Energy Solutions manages more than 1,500 MW of flexible capacity across North American electricity markets and serves hundreds of commercial and industrial facilities through proprietary, in-house built software. The DER platform is built on that foundation — with a growing portfolio of battery storage, solar, generation, microgrid, and flexible energy assets, an active development pipeline, and a multidisciplinary team of business developers, analysts, engineers, and energy market experts already in place.

As Vice President, Rodan DER, you'll own the full growth agenda: commercial strategy, capital allocation, customer origination, strategic partnerships, and the operating model needed to scale a durable DER asset business across Canada and the United States. You'll have direct accountability for portfolio quality and long-term performance — with the authority and organizational support to match.

For the right leader, this is the kind of role that doesn't come around often — a builder's mandate inside an established, growing platform, at exactly the right moment in the energy transition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Strategy & Growth
    • Define and execute Rodan’s North American DER strategy (markets, segments, products, and asset mix)
    • Set and deliver growth targets across pipeline, contracted MW/MWh, and portfolio returns
  • P&L & Capital Allocation
    • Own financial performance, P&L, operating budget, forecasting, margin, returns, and capital efficiency for Rodan DER
    • Own project and portfolio financial models to support pricing, investment decisions, and capital allocation
    • Allocate capital across the pipeline based on risk-adjusted returns, strategic fit, and execution readiness
    • Establish investment governance, including stage-gate reviews, Go/No-Go criteria, and executive business cases
  • Commercial Strategy & Productization
    • Develop repeatable commercial offerings
    • Define pricing, risk allocation, and standard contract structures
    • Lead negotiation strategy for key customer, partner, and financing agreements
  • Origination & Pipeline Management
    • Build and manage a high-quality, execution-ready pipeline aligned with strategy and capital capacity
    • Establish disciplined screening to prioritize high-value, financeable opportunities
    • Own senior customer and partner relationships
  • Capital Strategy & Partnerships
    • Lead capital strategy (debt, tax equity, partnerships, portfolio financing)
    • Manage relationships with investors, lenders, and strategic partners
    • Build strategic partnerships across utilities, OEMs, and EPCs to support growth
    • Track market, regulatory, utility, and incentive developments and convert them into growth or risk mitigation actions
  • Organization & Governance
    • Lead, build, and manage the Rodan DER team, including team structure, hiring priorities, capability development, performance expectations, and operating cadence
    • Coordinate cross-functional execution with Finance, Legal, Engineering, Operations, Market Operations, Sales, and Executive Leadership to ensure priorities, risks, decisions, and accountabilities are aligned
    • Drive a culture of accountability, commercial discipline, and execution excellence
  • Execution Oversight
    • Provide executive oversight of the full asset lifecycle through development, contracting, construction readiness, COD, operational handoff, and ongoing performance management
    • Ensure execution teams are equipped with the resources, governance, and clarity required to successfully deliver contracted projects
    • Establish an asset management cadence to monitor performance, commercial outcomes, customer obligations, market participation, and corrective actions after COD
    • Manage key risks, escalations, and stakeholder relationships

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of senior leadership experience in energy infrastructure, DER, power markets, project development, infrastructure investment, or related commercial growth roles
  • Proven track record of building a business line, asset platform, development portfolio, or commercial growth strategy
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including project finance, portfolio valuation, contract structuring, capital allocation, and risk-adjusted return assessment
  • Solid understanding of DER technologies, customer-sited energy solutions, North American electricity markets, and monetization pathways
  • Experience originating, structuring, and negotiating complex commercial arrangements with customers, utilities, developers, capital providers, or strategic partners
  • Strong knowledge of power markets (energy, capacity, ancillary services) and related commercial structures, including arbitrage, tolling, floors, and offtake
  • Ability to assess market, technical, interconnection, permitting, operating, and commercial risks at a level required to guide investment decisions
  • Executive presence and ability to lead cross-functional teams, influence senior stakeholders, and represent Rodan with customers, investors, partners, and industry participants
  • Builder mindset: strategic, commercially disciplined, decisive, accountable, and opportunity-oriented
  • Experience in Canadian or U.S. electricity markets; familiarity with both is an asset.
