BelfastFull-timeMid LevelOn-site

Job Description

  • Part-qualified Assistant Accountant role within a busy, supportive finance team
  • On-site, based in Belfast
  • Broad exposure across management accounts, VAT, payroll and reconciliations
  • Competitive salary plus 30 days annual holiday
  • Genuine progression opportunities as you complete your professional qualification

About the Company

This is a well-established organisation with a busy, professional finance function based in Belfast. The team has a strong reputation for supporting junior finance professionals as they build their skills and progress towards qualification. It is a stable, well-run environment where you will be given genuine responsibility and close mentorship from day one.

The Role

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the finance function. You will get broad, hands-on exposure across the transactional and month-end cycle, working closely with the wider team on everything from ledger processing to management accounts support. This is a great fit for someone part-qualified or early in their studies who wants exposure across a broad remit rather than a narrow silo, with support and mentorship close at hand.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Process purchase and sales ledger transactions
  • Perform bank reconciliations and support the month-end close
  • Prepare and support VAT return submissions
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable
  • Assist with payroll processing
  • Maintain accurate financial records and filing
  • Support the wider finance team with ad hoc duties as required

What You'll Need

Essential:

  • Part-qualified (ACCA/CIMA/AAT) or actively studying towards a professional qualification
  • Minimum 1-2 years' experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Strong Excel skills and experience with accounting software such as Sage or Xero
  • High attention to detail with a methodical approach to work
  • A strong communicator, comfortable working independently and as part of a team

Desirable / Nice to Have:

  • Prior exposure to payroll processing
  • Experience within a fast-paced, multi-entity finance function

Why Apply?

  • Competitive salary
  • 30 days annual holiday
  • On-site role based in Belfast within a friendly, professional finance team
  • Clear, genuine progression opportunities as you build your qualification
  • Broad, hands-on exposure across the full finance function, not a narrow silo
  • Close mentorship and support from an experienced Finance Manager
