Role Description The Nurse Midwife will provide comprehensive maternity and reproductive health care, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal services in an on-site setting in Chennai. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting prenatal assessments, monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, assisting with labor and birth, and providing postpartum care and newborn assessments. The role involves counseling families on birth plans, breastfeeding, family planning, and overall wellness, while maintaining detailed clinical documentation and adhering to safety and quality standards.
The Nurse Midwife will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, participate in patient education sessions, and support emergency care when needed. This is a full-time, on-site role.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Midwifery and Maternity care, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal support.
- Clinical expertise in Nursing and Medicine relevant to maternal and newborn health.
- Knowledge of Family Planning services and counseling, with a focus on informed, patient-centered choices.
- Current nursing or midwifery registration/licensure as required by local regulations.
- Experience in natural or low-intervention birth settings is highly beneficial.
- Ability to remain calm in emergency situations and follow established clinical protocols.
- Effective communication and counseling skills, with a respectful, non-judgmental approach to diverse families.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call shifts when required.
