The Opportunity
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Commercial Property Solicitor to join the in-house legal team of a highly successful and well-established business operating across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
This is an excellent opportunity for a solicitor with a few years' post-qualification experience in commercial property who is looking to make the move in-house and gain broad, commercially focused experience within a substantial international organisation.
The role offers the opportunity to work across a varied property portfolio spanning Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, giving you exposure to a wide range of commercial property matters and the chance to work closely with colleagues and stakeholders across the wider business.
The business owns and leases land, as well as leasing property to third parties, meaning the role provides genuine variety across acquisitions, disposals, landlord and tenant matters and general property advice.
The Role
Working as part of the wider in-house legal function, you will support the business across a broad range of commercial property matters throughout the island of Ireland.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Advising on the acquisition and disposal of commercial and operational property.
- Supporting and managing property acquisitions, disposals and related transactions.
- Advising on freehold and leasehold property matters.
- Drafting, reviewing and negotiating leases, licences, easements, wayleaves and other property documentation.
- Advising on landlord and tenant matters, including the letting of company-owned property.
- Supporting the management of the company's property portfolio.
- Assisting with property due diligence and transactional matters.
- Providing practical and commercially focused legal advice to internal stakeholders.
- Working with external solicitors, agents, surveyors and other professional advisers.
- Supporting wider commercial projects where there is a property or legal element.
- Developing strong relationships with colleagues across the business and becoming a trusted legal adviser.
- Visiting operational sites across Ireland where required.
This is a broad commercial property position rather than a purely transactional conveyancing role. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge across a wide range of property matters while gaining valuable exposure to how a large business operates from an in-house perspective.
About You
We are looking for a commercially minded Commercial Property Solicitor who is keen to develop their career within an in-house environment.
You will ideally have:
- Qualification as a solicitor in Northern Ireland and/or the Republic of Ireland.
- A few years' post-qualification experience in commercial property.
- Experience in areas such as acquisitions and disposals, landlord and tenant and general commercial property matters.
- Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
- The ability to manage your own workload and work effectively across multiple matters.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- A practical, commercially focused approach to providing legal advice.
- The confidence to work with colleagues and stakeholders across different areas of the business.
- A genuine interest in developing a broader understanding of the commercial environment in which you operate.
Candidates qualified in either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland will be considered, provided they are willing and able to obtain qualification in the other jurisdiction.
Previous in-house experience is not required. This role would be particularly well suited to a commercial property solicitor currently working in private practice who is looking for the opportunity to move in-house and gain broader commercial exposure.
Why Consider This Role?
This is an excellent opportunity to develop your career within a substantial international organisation while working within a supportive and commercially focused in-house environment.
You will benefit from:
- A broad and varied commercial property workload across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- The opportunity to make the move from private practice into an in-house legal environment.
- Exposure to both Northern Ireland and Republic of Ireland property matters.
- The opportunity to work directly with operational and commercial stakeholders.
- A hybrid working model based in the Belfast area.
- Travel to the Dublin office approximately once per month.
- Occasional travel to operational sites across Ireland.
- Excellent benefits and a strong overall remuneration package.
- Opportunities for professional and career development.
- The resources, stability and career opportunities associated with being part of a wider international organisation.
- The opportunity to build a long-term career within the business.
The Company
Our client is a well-established international organisation with significant operations across Ireland.
The business has a diverse operational footprint across the island of Ireland and a substantial property portfolio supporting its activities across both jurisdictions.
As part of a wider international group, the organisation benefits from significant resources, expertise and opportunities while maintaining a strong local presence and focus.
The organisation places significant emphasis on its people, long-term growth, responsible business practices and continued investment, making this an excellent environment for a solicitor looking to develop their in-house career.
