Chef (African Cuisine)

Employment Type: Permanent, Full-time Hours: hours per week FunkeFamous Food Truck is seeking an experienced Chef specializing in African cuisine to join our team. The successful candidate will lead menu execution, create high-quality authentic culinary offerings, supervise kitchen operations, and maintain strict food safety standards.

Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and execute complete culinary dishes and specialty menus. Specialize in the preparation and refined execution of authentic African dishes, including Jollof Rice and traditional West African cuisines.

Train, mentor, and guide kitchen staff on culinary techniques, food preparation, portion control, and presentation standards. Supervise daily kitchen operations, kitchen staff, and line cooks. Ensure exceptional food quality, consistency, and strict compliance with health and safety regulations.

Oversee inventory management, ordering, and record-keeping for food supplies, ingredients, and kitchen equipment. Coordinate kitchen operations to optimize workflow and efficiency during peak service times. Maintain rigorous sanitation and cleanliness standards throughout all kitchen work areas.

Lead menu development, recipe standardization, and cost-control initiatives. Employment Requirements Minimum secondary (high) school graduation certificate or formal culinary training.

Minimum 1-3 years of progressive experience as a Chef or Senior Cook specializing in African cuisine. Comprehensive knowledge of food safety regulations, culinary techniques, and sanitation practices. Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high culinary standards.

Strong leadership, team management, and communication skills. Work Conditions & Physical Capabilities Fast-paced food truck/kitchen environment.
