  • Transport vehicles, machinery, equipment, containers and other bulky goods across local and regional routes.
  • Review job instructions and plan safe and efficient collection and delivery routes.
  • Position vehicles safely for loading and unloading.
  • Load, unload and secure cargo using appropriate load-restraint equipment and procedures.
  • Assess load weight, placement and distribution and comply with applicable mass and dimension requirements.
  • Inspect loads at collection and delivery and report any damage or discrepancies.
  • Conduct daily pre-start and post-operation inspections, including checks of tyres, brakes, lights, fluids and safety equipment.
  • Maintain accurate work diaries, logbooks, manifests, delivery documentation and electronic job records.
  • Obtain photographs, signatures and other proof of collection or delivery where required.
  • Report vehicle defects, mechanical issues, incidents and safety concerns to management promptly.
  • Comply with Heavy Vehicle National Law, fatigue-management requirements, load-restraint standards and Chain of Responsibility obligations.
  • Communicate professionally with customers, site personnel and ABC Towing's transport coordination team.
  • Maintain the vehicle, cabin and associated equipment in a clean and serviceable condition.

About the Candidate

  • Current Australian HR, HC or MC driver licence.
  • Minimum two years of relevant commercial heavy-vehicle driving experience.
  • Demonstrated experience transporting bulky goods, machinery, equipment, vehicles or similar loads.
  • Sound knowledge of load restraint, fatigue management and Chain of Responsibility requirements.
  • Ability to complete vehicle inspections and accurately maintain transport and delivery records.
  • Safe driving history and ability to provide a recent driver-history report.
  • Strong spatial awareness and the physical capacity to safely undertake loading and load-restraint duties.
  • Ability to work independently and follow written and verbal job instructions.
  • Good communication, time-management and customer-service skills.
  • Availability for regional travel, early starts, reasonable overtime and occasional overnight work.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment medical assessment and drug and alcohol screening.

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience operating tilt trays, beavertails, tag trailers or similar heavy-transport equipment.
  • Experience transporting vehicles, machinery, containers or oversize equipment.
  • Relevant load-restraint, fatigue-management or Chain of Responsibility training.
  • Forklift, dogging, rigging or other relevant licences or competencies.

Work Environment

This is a permanent, full-time position involving regional travel, early starts, reasonable overtime and occasional overnight work.
