Academic Counsellor
Location: Viman Nagar, Pune
Employment Type: Full-time
Salary: Up to 25K (Negotiable)
Experience: 1–3 years (Freshers with strong communication skills may also apply)

Role Overview
The School Counsellor plays a key role in supporting students’ emotional, social, behavioural and academic development. This position involves individual and group counselling, collaboration with teachers & parents and proactive initiatives that promote student well-being and mental health across the school community.
Key Responsibilities
- Student Counselling & Support
- Provide individual and group counselling for students dealing with emotional, social, behavioural or academic concerns.
- Identify students requiring additional support and design appropriate intervention strategies.
- Support students with stress, anxiety, self-esteem, peer relationships and emotional regulation.
- Assist students in developing coping skills, resilience and positive behaviour patterns.
Collaboration & Guidance
- Work closely with teachers to address classroom-related behavioural or emotional challenges.
- Partner with parents/guardians to support student development while maintaining confidentiality.
- Participate in student support meetings and multidisciplinary discussions when required.
Programs & Preventive Initiatives
- Plan and conduct workshops, classroom sessions, and assemblies on mental health, life skills, emotional well-being, and social development.
- Contribute to school policies related to student welfare, safeguarding and child protection.
- Support crisis intervention and follow school protocols in sensitive situations.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate, confidential student records and counselling notes.
- Prepare reports, observations and recommendations for internal review.
- Refer students to external professionals or specialists when needed, in coordination with school leadership.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Psychology, Counselling, or a related field.
- Relevant certification or training in child/adolescent counselling preferred.
- 1–3 years of experience in a school or child-focused counselling role (freshers may be considered).
- Strong communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
