What you'll do
- Collaborate with project managers and other engineering staff to develop project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring alignment with client expectations and company standards.
- Conduct site visits to assess project progress and compliance with design specifications, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Prepare and review engineering documents, including drawings, specifications, and reports, to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Assist in the procurement of materials and equipment, evaluating vendor proposals and ensuring timely delivery to meet project timelines.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to facilitate smooth project execution, addressing any issues that may arise during the construction process.
- Monitor project performance, identifying potential risks and implementing corrective actions to mitigate delays and cost overruns.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including change orders, meeting minutes, and progress reports, to ensure transparency and accountability.
- Participate in project meetings, providing updates on engineering activities and collaborating with team members to solve complex challenges.
- Support the development of project proposals and bids, contributing technical expertise to enhance competitiveness in the marketplace.
- Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve engineering processes and project outcomes.
- Foster a culture of safety by promoting safe work practices and ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
- Mentor and train junior engineers and interns, sharing knowledge and expertise to support their professional growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in project engineering or a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar tools for design and analysis.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and regulations, with a focus on safety and quality assurance.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Proven problem-solving abilities, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing project challenges.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
- Familiarity with project management software and tools, such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Nice to have
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Experience with sustainable building practices and green construction techniques.
- Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes and applications.
- Familiarity with contract administration and negotiation processes.
- Previous experience working on commercial or industrial construction projects.
