TaxIT Operations and Project Manager

Location: Amsterdam, Netherlands

Contract: 12 months initially (Contract)

Hourly rate: 120 € per hour (VAT added on top)

Hours per week: 40 hours, with 2‑3 days required to be in the Amsterdam office.

Responsibilities

• Own the end‑to‑end project lifecycle, including operational responsibility under the O2C department for Tax Compliance.
• Deliver multiple projects or initiatives (medium to large complexity) both within and outside the Finance department.
• Scope, plan, and define success criteria aligned with business objectives.
• Track and report progress, manage overall timelines, dependencies, risks, and issues, monitoring interdependencies within and outside projects.
• Create clear project plans with involved departments and collaborate across cross‑functional teams to identify and build action plans.
• Apply change‑management processes and tools to support adoption of required changes.
• Enable team members and leaders to make quality decisions and hold project members accountable.
• Engage stakeholders at all levels inside and outside the organization.
• Support building of PM capabilities within the organization and other teams.
• Set up a Tax Operations team in Finance (processes, systems, people) to manage increasing complexities and workloads to keep the company compliant.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of program/project management experience with a proven track record in managing end‑to‑end technology and business projects.
• Hands‑on experience in finance operations and/or accounting, with deep knowledge in O2C operational processes and Tax processes highly desirable.
• Solid understanding and practical experience with multiple project‑management methodologies: waterfall, agile, hybrid, DMAIC, etc., and managing both Finance and IT teams.
• PMP/Prince2 or Agile Project Management or equivalent certification preferred.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification and continuous‑improvement methodology knowledge a plus.
• Proven ability to navigate and execute projects in an agile environment, manage uncertainty and ambiguity, and avoid over‑engineering solutions.
• Proficient in change management and guiding people through change.
• Strong communication, relationship management, and negotiation skills; able to influence senior leadership and align stakeholders.
• Ability to work under pressure, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
• Knowledge of SAP is a plus.

Additional Information

• Senior program manager responsibilities include building a high‑level Tax Operations team within Finance to address evolving compliance requirements.
• Role supports the Operational Excellence team within the Strategy and Operations direction in Finance.
• Coaching and supporting team members to achieve project‑management maturity is part of the role.
