Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site Professional Driver role located in the Greater Melbourne Area. The Professional Driver will operate trucks to transport packages and freight safely and efficiently between customer locations, depots, and warehouses. Daily responsibilities include performing pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, following scheduled routes, loading and unloading freight, and maintaining accurate delivery documentation.
The role involves communicating with dispatch, colleagues, and customers to coordinate deliveries and address any issues that arise on the road. The Professional Driver is expected to follow all traffic laws, company safety policies, and regulatory requirements while representing Freestone's Transport in a professional manner.
Qualifications
- Strong truck driving skills and experience operating commercial trucks safely and responsibly.
- Valid CDL Class A (or equivalent heavy vehicle license for Australia) and a clean driving record.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with dispatch, team members, and customers.
- Customer service skills to ensure courteous, professional interactions during pick-ups and deliveries.
- Knowledge of local and regional roads in the Greater Melbourne Area and ability to follow route plans and navigation tools.
- Ability to perform basic vehicle checks, identify potential mechanical issues, and report maintenance needs promptly.
- Physical ability to lift, move, and secure freight safely, using appropriate equipment and techniques.
- Reliability, punctuality, and strong attention to safety, compliance, and detail in documentation and reporting.
- Previous experience in freight, logistics, or delivery driving is preferred but not required.
