ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting to the Accountant, the Assistant Accountant plays a key role in supporting the Finance team with the day-to-day accounting operations. Key duties:

  • Data entry for supplier accounts in Xero
  • Weekly creditor batch payments via Xero
  • Reconcile bank, EFTPOS transactions
  • Entering into Xero MBA credit cards (Co-ordinating receipts and tax invoices from cardholders)
  • Prepare monthly Ageing Report (AR) and follow up outstanding debtors
  • Process returned payments in MBAWA bank account. Creation of credit notes via Xero when required
  • Assist with Fixed Asset Management
  • Assisting the Accountant with monthly financial management reports
  • Setup and maintain product codes between CRM and Xero
  • Setup of instalment plan arrangements for members/clients in Bpoint
  • Process payroll for Group Training Organisation (GTO)
  • Prepare tax reports for GTO
  • Process quarterly MyLeave lodgement for GTO
  • Assist with annual audit
  • Other tasks as assigned by the Accountant

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (desirable)
  • 2-3 years’ experience in a similar position
  • Experience in Xero, and MS office applications
  • Experience in BAS, payroll tax, superannuation
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • High level analytical, organisational and planning skills
  • Excellent written, verbal communications and the ability to follow instructions
  • Willingness to learn and support different areas of the finance team
  • Demonstrate ability to operate under pressure situations while achieving outcomes
  • A self-motivator, who achieves results autonomously or via teamwork
  • A team player
