Job Description

Fractional Chief Financial Officer (Equity-Based / Advisory)

Time Commitment: 1–2 days per month

Location: Hybrid / Remote (Ireland)

Compensation: Equity-Only (Pre-seed / Early-Stage Equity Structure)

About Us

We are an ambitious, early-stage cleantech company developing next-generation battery storage solutions to accelerate the energy transition. As we scale our technological foundation, we are preparing for major non-dilutive and strategic funding rounds, targeting support from Enterprise Ireland (EI) and EU Strategic / Innovation Funds.

We are seeking a seasoned, high-caliber financial leader to join us as a Fractional CFO. This role is designed for an experienced financial executive—perhaps someone transitioning into an advisory portfolio or near the end of a distinguished career—who wants to leverage their extensive experience to guide a high-impact startup through crucial funding and governance milestones.

The Opportunity

In exchange for your expertise, guidance, and network, we are offering a meaningful equity stake in the business. There is no base salary attached to this role at present.

This position offers a flexible schedule (1 to 2 days per month) with a clear focus on high-level strategy, investor readiness, and navigating state and European grant and equity frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the financial narrative, projections, and valuation modeling for grant and equity applications, specifically targeting Enterprise Ireland (e.g., HPSU funding) and EU funding bodies (e.g., EIC Accelerator, Horizon Europe).

Structure and refine data rooms for pitch preparation and investor due diligence.

  • Capital Structuring & Governance:

Advise the founders on equity allocation, cap table management, convertible notes, and future dilutive funding strategies.

Establish lean, scalable financial governance and compliance framework for early-stage operations.

  • Strategic Mentorship:

Serve as a trusted sounding board to the CEO and founding team on commercial strategy, risk management, and commercialization pathways.

Represent the financial strategy of the business during high-level investor or grant panel presentations when required.

About You

  • Proven Executive Track Record: You have served as a CFO, VP of Finance, or Finance Director in scaled businesses, corporate environments, or successful startups.
  • Non-Dilutive & Grant Funding Knowledge: Direct experience or strong familiarity with Enterprise Ireland schemes, EU grant frameworks, or institutional fundraising processes would be an advantage, not a must
  • Energy / DeepTech Sector Experience: Experience in cleantech, energy storage, hardware, or capital-intensive engineering sectors is a strong advantage.
  • Phase of Career: Ideally suited for an established finance executive seeking a high-value advisory or portfolio role where you can mentor the next generation of entrepreneurs without committing to full-time executive hours.
  • Also, we need a person who can actually in the practical sense, set up the accounting functions and systems, and recruit suitable finance staff
