Role Overview

We are seeking a talented and driven Software Developer with strong experience in Go (Golang) and cloud-native development on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role will focus on developing, enhancing, and supporting scalable backend services and serverless applications within a modern AWS environment.

The successful candidate will have hands-on experience with AWS Lambda, DynamoDB, and GitLab, and will work closely with architects, product owners, and engineering teams to deliver high-quality solutions that are secure, reliable, and maintainable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain backend applications and microservices using Go (Golang).
  • Develop and support serverless solutions leveraging AWS Lambda and related AWS services.
  • Design and optimise data models and access patterns using Amazon DynamoDB.
  • Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and event-driven applications.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
  • Participate in solution design, architecture discussions, and technical decision-making.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business and technology outcomes.
  • Perform code reviews and champion software engineering best practices.
  • Identify and resolve application performance, reliability, and scalability issues.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation.
  • Support production environments, including troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Skills

  • Hands-on experience working within an AWS cloud environment.
  • Experience with:
  • AWS Lambda
  • DynamoDB
  • API Gateway
  • IAM
  • CloudWatch
  • S3
  • Experience building and supporting serverless applications.
  • Strong understanding of microservices and distributed system architectures.
  • Experience designing and developing REST APIs.
  • Experience using GitLab for source control, branching strategies, and CI/CD automation.
  • Knowledge of software design principles, clean code practices, and testing methodologies.
  • Experience working within Agile delivery teams.

Database Experience

  • Strong experience with Amazon DynamoDB.
  • Understanding of NoSQL database design, performance tuning, and scalability considerations.
  • Experience with Augur or similar cloud governance, reporting, or analytics platforms.
  • Experience planning and executing data migration projects, including large‑scale migrations, data transformation, validation, and reconciliation activities.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Experience with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with event‑driven architectures and messaging services such as SNS, SQS, EventBridge, or Kafka.
  • AWS certifications.
  • Experience with observability, monitoring, and logging platforms.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Relevant AWS certifications are advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive approach to continuous improvement and learning.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
