Senior Accounting Manager
Canadian Accounting Consultants [CPA Recruitment]
Job Description
We are recruiting on behalf of a well known Canadian brand name, headquartered in Brampton (hybrid). This newly created role will lead group accounting operations and build, coach and mentor a small team.
We're looking for a CPA who wants to build and improve, not just maintain — someone with strong consolidations and corporate accounting experience, ready to grow into greater scope as the role and team develop. This is a period of real growth for the business, and the person who takes this on will help shape the processes as the function scales.
Candidates we've placed here consistently point to the collaborative culture and the direct visibility into the CFO's office. The office itself has a relaxed feel — while still very much a high-performing finance function. If that combination appeals to you, we're interested to hear from you.
Key responsibilities and oversight:
- Lead and establish accounting operations and financial controls for a newly launched brand.
- Manage all aspects of monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Develop, document, and implement scalable financial controls and processes from scratch.
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, IT, and External Audit to identify process gaps and mitigate control risks.
- Oversee compliance with IFRS accounting standards and tax regulations.
- Build and mentor a small, high-performing accounting team.
- Support process improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and reduce workload.
The successful candidate will possess the following:
- CPA designation with proven experience in consolidations and corporate accounting.
- Minimum of 2-3 years of industry experience as a manager or senior manager, ideally with exposure to fast-paced environments.
- 6 + years post graduate experience.
- Qualified at a major public accounting firm preferred.
- Strong expertise in IFRS accounting standards.
- Demonstrated ability to build or overhaul accounting processes and controls.
- Effective management skills with prior leadership experience.
- Excellent communication, judgment, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate under tight deadlines with high attention to detail.
- Experience managing high transaction volumes and operational accounting fundamentals.
The Company is offering a strong compensation package including an attractive base salary, and annual performance bonus. Full remuneration details to be disclosed to all candidates under consideration.
This opportunity is an existing vacancy with an employer who has engaged our recruiting services.
