About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and driven Estimating Manager to lead our estimating function and support the successful delivery of projects from tender through to award. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised professional with strong commercial acumen, leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing complex estimates and bids.
As Estimating Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation and submission of accurate, competitive, and profitable tenders while managing and mentoring the estimating team.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the full bid cycle from opportunity identification through to tender submission and handover for utility infrastructure, mining & resources and civil infrastructure projects.
- Review and interpret tender documentation, drawings, specifications, and scopes for multi-utility and civil infrastructure projects.
- Manage and mentor a team of estimators/senior estimators, fostering capability development and consistency in estimating practices across the business.
- Collaborate closely with operations, project delivery, procurement, and leadership teams (including CEO, COO, and Operations Managers).
- Identify, analyse, and mitigate project risks, opportunities, and value engineering initiatives during the tender phase.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers in the utilities and civil sectors.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating databases, unit rates, benchmarks, historical data, and cost models specific to WA infrastructure projects.
- Support business development, pre-construction activities (ECI/D&C where applicable), contract negotiations, and handover to delivery teams.
- Provide input into strategic planning, bid/no-bid decisions, and diversification.
About You
- Proven experience as a Senior Estimator or Estimating Manager in civil infrastructure, utilities or multi-utility construction, with a strong track record on projects similar to Benang’s portfolio.
- Deep technical knowledge of utility infrastructure installation, civil works, pipelines, underground services, and associated methodologies.
- Strong commercial acumen, with experience in competitive tendering, cost control, and risk management in the WA market.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to drive high performance.
- Proficiency with estimating software/tools and advanced hands‑on knowledge of MS Project.
- Relevant qualifications (e.g., Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management) highly regarded.

- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
