The Opportunity
We’re an IT intensive business and we operate state-of-the-art, specialised business-critical systems, 24/7. As we transition to a low-carbon energy future, this is an opportunity to make a real impact. This role sits within the Corporate Applications Team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the support of SharePoint, one of the key business critical systems within the organisation. They will deliver end-to-end support, administration, and continuous improvement of SharePoint Online environment. They will also provide support to users as they migrate from retired solutions from Microsoft SharePoint on premises to modern solutions utilising SharePoint Online features.
This role combines technical expertise with a strong customer focus, vendor management and engagement as well as supporting users across all levels while ensuring platform stability, governance, and effective collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary L2/L3 support contact for SharePoint Online, managing incidents, service requests, and user issues in line with EirGrid processes and SLAs.
- Provide end-to-end support across L2, and L3, including troubleshooting, resolution, and escalation as required.
- Deliver hands-on user support across all levels, including senior leadership, addressing queries related to sites, permissions, sharing, and collaboration.
- Provide hands-on support for users building and managing SharePoint pages, lists, libraries, forms, document management structures, site updates, permission changes, and structural improvements.
- Assist in the creation of workflows and approvals using SharePoint and Power Automate.
- Deliver clear, practical training and guidance to promote best practices in collaboration, document management, and sharing. Produce user-friendly documentation and how-to guides for common tasks.
- Support SharePoint-related initiatives such as migrations, rollouts, and enhancements from an operational perspective.
- Identify recurring issues and contribute to platform stability and continuous improvement.
About You
- Demonstrable experience in IT operations, project delivery, or a related IT delivery environment.
- Experience coordinating activities across multiple stakeholders, including technical teams, project teams, operational teams and support functions.
- Good understanding of ITIL-aligned service management practices, particularly around operational readiness, release, change, transition, service acceptance or service handover.
- Experience maintaining trackers, action logs, readiness checklists, evidence packs, status reports or governance documentation.
- Ability to identify and track risks, gaps, dependencies and actions through to resolution.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to provide clear updates to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a structured and organised way.
- Ability to work collaboratively while also following up on actions and constructively challenging incomplete or missing readiness evidence.
- Experience working with project governance, ITSM tools, service reporting or operational handover would be an advantage.
- A third-level qualification in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Service Management or equivalent experience would be beneficial.
