Job Description
Collins Aerospace is seeking a dynamic Manager, Commodity Management & Sourcing, to be responsible for implementing and leading commodity sourcing strategies for the assigned suppliers and projects. These responsibilities include quotations, bid analysis, supplier recommendations, awards, execution of new or extension of existing supplier contracts, supplier development, risk mitigation, and cost reduction in support of GSS objectives for the Machining Commodity. This is an individual contribution role without having any direct report.
What You Will Do
- Develop and execute commodity and supplier development strategies for direct products, aligning with the strategic objectives of the Business Unit and the Collins Machining commodity.
- Conduct RFQs, perform comprehensive bid analysis, provide recommendations, and lead the execution of the quoting strategy.
- Develop and lead the execution of multiple supplier contract strategies, including price and legal terms and conditions negotiations.
- Execute monthly and quarterly part, project, and supplier-level cost analysis to identify savings and headwinds, and make strategic recommendations to improve overall product cost structure.
- Support multiple buy‑to‑buy, buy‑to‑make, and make‑to‑buy projects by leading and executing complete sourcing and business case approval per the Work Transfer process.
- Collaborate with Operational Procurement, Engineering, and Program Management to ensure the successful introduction of new programs and transfer of production requirements to suppliers.
- Organize efforts to improve supplier performance and act as a relationship manager with suppliers.
- Support the development or extension of new suppliers for broad-based commodities.
- Lead special projects with suppliers and cross‑functional teams across the organization.
- Administer timely reporting, analysis, and MRP updates for the assigned suppliers and projects.
- Advocate for change management, provide feedback, and drive the implementation of required process changes.
Qualifications You Must Have
- University degree (or advanced degree) and a minimum of 8 years in Supply Chain, Sourcing, or Commodity Management, or a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
- Experience in contracts and/or negotiations.
- Experience providing data analysis and creating and presenting reports using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience working with ERP systems.
Qualifications We Prefer
- Creative thinking, ability to multitask, and a sense of urgency, with the aptitude to work independently with little oversight.
- Experience with SAP.
- Aerospace or automotive industry experience.
- Strong communication and presentation skills for suppliers or senior leadership.
- Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment with shifting priorities while maintaining high quality of work.
- Demonstrated time management, team building, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
- Success in developing project plans and executing projects, including overcoming obstacles and resolving issues independently.
- Ability to interpret 2D drawings with technical or manufacturing aptitude.
