Contract Job Title: Senior Associate, Fund/Client Accounting / Associate, Fund/Client Accounting

Department Overview

The Alternative Investment Services (AIS) Fund Accounting Department is responsible for ensuring the timely and accurate preparation of daily net asset value (NAV) for a number of complex Hedge Funds, Credit Funds, Private Market Funds, Real Estate Funds and Hybrid Funds investing in a wide variety of financial instrument types.

Team Overview

Real Estate Fund Accounting teams provide a full site of administrative services to support real estate funds and property management, including specific set of funds, fund accounting, investor servicing, ensuring that NAV packs for real estate clients are prepared in line with company policy and procedure.

Role Summary

In this role, you’ll make an impact in the following ways:

  • Leading and supervising the preparation of periodical accounting & NAV production for the Real Estate funds, including period closing activities, construction & validation, dissemination and reporting tasks for all underlying entities, consolidation.
  • Supervising reviews of general ledger transactions and annual/quarterly and monthly financial statements for multiple real estate properties.
  • Performing complex Fund/Client Accounting responsibilities, driving Service Improvement plans, targeting efficiencies, enhancing processes and specialist review functions.
  • Providing input and guidance on methodologies, checking work and guiding junior team members.
  • Guiding and reviewing cash and asset reconciliations related to complex accounts or transactions.
  • Resolving reconciliation of accounts for complex or atypical transactions and reviewing work/drafted reports completed by junior team members.
  • Drafting reports for clients regarding the performance of complex funds.
  • Regularly interacting with clients to answer questions and resolve issues regarding fund reports and accounting processes.
  • Assisting in evaluating GAAP and/or IFRS rules to determine impact of new regulations on BNY fund accounting practices.
  • Contributing to the achievement of related teams objectives.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or an equivalent combination of education or experience.
  • 2-7 years of total work experience preferred, accounting/audit background.
  • Experience preparing financial statements.
  • Business English proficiency.
  • Strong communication skills, high level of accuracy and proficiency in Excel.
  • Real estate and investment accounting experience/education is a strong asset.
