The Data & Services team is a key differentiator for Mastercard, providing customer insights, hyper personalization, and loyalty solutions as well as cutting‑edge strategy consulting services that help our customers grow. Focused on thinking big and scaling fast around the globe, this team is responsible for end‑to‑end solutions supporting a diverse global customer base.

About The Role

The Business Development Director, in partnership with the existing team, will further drive the growth of Mastercard’s Data & Services business in Spain by developing new business and creating strong partnerships with flagship financial institutions, merchants, fintechs and government around payment solutions and services.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Shape Data & Services growth strategy in Spain and execute against that strategy together with existing team.
  • Identify critical aspects of a problem a client or market is facing to determine new business opportunities.
  • Leverage deep knowledge of all Mastercard Data & Services capabilities and how they fit together to create customized and relevant solutions for clients.
  • Write well‑structured, persuasive proposals and present them to clients.
  • Develop strong relationships and partnerships with senior level client management.
  • Align efforts with Mastercard core team for sales success, including managing external obstacles and maintaining leadership alignment and support.
  • Partner with local project teams to ensure project quality and identify follow‑up sales opportunities.

Education Needed

  • Undergraduate degree required.
  • MBA or relevant postgraduate degree recommended.

  • Experience from a top‑rated consulting or digital firm desirable, as is payments/banking expertise and experience helping financial institutions at the executive leadership level.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset, creativity and strong commercial sense.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Advanced Word, Excel and PowerPoint skills.
  • Ability to work on a team or independently.
  • Ability to multi‑task in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment.
  • Languages: full professional proficiency in Spanish and English required, additional language skills highly desirable.

Corporate Security Responsibility

  • Abide by Mastercard’s security policies and practices.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and integrity of the information being accessed.
  • Report any suspected information security violation or breach.
  • Complete all periodic mandatory security trainings in accordance with Mastercard’s guidelines.
