STARLight Center-SUD Residential Specialist Job Category: Residential Care Requisition Number: STARL008693 Posted: July 1, 2026 Full‑Time On‑site Locations Lancaster, OH 43130, USA Description Job Summary: The Residential Specialist works under the supervision of the SUD Residential Manager. The role includes supervising client activities, crisis intervention, and providing a sensitive, observant presence for clients. The specialist logs pertinent information for counselors and other staff.
The facility provides intensive treatment for substance abuse issues. Shift: Full Time – 3 12‑hour shifts with rotating weekends. Essential Functions Maintain complete and current clinical records regarding all persons served.
Provide education to persons served, family members, and other staff regarding substance use treatment, symptom management, wellness, and health. Provide ongoing observation of mental illness or substance use and physical symptoms, and communicate changes to the treatment team for immediate intervention. Facilitate group activities focused on mental health or substance use needs.
Provide direct supervision of clients to ensure safety and basic needs are met. Assist clients with behavior management and positive behavioral interventions. Ensure the safety of clients and the unit by completing regular safety checks of clothing, belongings, and the physical environment.
Achieve productivity goals as assigned. Perform duties in accordance with professional ethics, standards, and Ohio Guidestone policies. Comply with all state and federal laws regarding protected health information and perform duties in a friendly, considerate manner aligned with the agency’s Mission, Vision, and Standards of Ethical Conduct.
Organize and plan work for maximum efficiency and effectiveness. Utilize IT systems and software programs in accordance with agency policy. Utilize time off in a manner consistent with agency policy.
Perform other duties as deemed necessary and appropriate by supervisor. Qualifications Mission driven; strong desire to make an impact. Effective interpersonal skills; able to speak effectively with individuals and/or groups.
Ability to exercise discretion and good professional judgment. Flexible; able to work days, evenings, and/or weekends as needed. Strong organizational skills; able to handle multiple priorities with strict attention to detail and perform work independently.
Ability to maintain relevant, timely documentation. Effective computer literacy skills, including Windows applications, Microsoft Office, and electronic health records. Ability to physically restrain residents of varying ages, heights, and weights; able to provide services in the community, client homes, or at work locations that may require walking, standing, and lifting.
Possess a valid Ohio Driver’s License with a safe driving record. Successfully meet pre‑employment drug screen, physical exam, and tuberculosis test requirements. Successfully meet all pre‑employment background requirements.
Education & Experience Required: High school diploma or GED. Experience in a relevant field. Valid driver’s license and good driving record.
