Mechanical Engineering Technologist We are seeking a Mechanical Engineering Technologist to support the design, development, and production of heavy equipment attachments. The role reports to the Engineering Supervisor and involves hands‑on experience with mechanical systems, software, and manufacturing processes. Responsibilities Issuing design projects Designing or providing details on designs Conducting engineering analysis Conducting finite element analysis to create reports or initiate design development Making independent studies, analyses, interpretations and conclusions Carrying out technical surveys or inspections upon request Adhering to prescribed testing analysis, design or computation methods Complying with Company safety regulations, policies and procedures Conforming to established practices and standards Supporting other functional areas Giving technical guidance to the engineering group Collaborating with co‑workers to achieve anticipated project goals Providing services to internal and external clients Contributing well‑thought‑out ideas and opinions in meetings and work groups Using good judgment, critical thinking skills and deductive reasoning to work through assignments Researching and reading on a continuous basis to learn new skills and engineering techniques, concepts or procedures Participating and/or attending industry association meetings, seminars, workshops and conferences Following company’s safety procedures, including PPE requirements Complying with all safety regulations, policies, and procedures Promoting workplace safety and creating a safe and secure work environment Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized post‑secondary institution Eligible for registration with the ASET or APEGA 1‑2 years’ experience in a manufacturing or similar environment Solid understanding of manufacturing processes for steel fabrication Broad theoretical engineering knowledge Good knowledge about engineering practices and principles Knowledge of legislation, rules, and regulations Interpersonal skills to relate to co‑workers at all levels Proficient computer skills to use various software applications (CAD, Microsoft Office Suite, SolidWorks, etc.) Communication skills to read, listen, write and speak in a clear and concise manner Good organizational skills Good time management skills to productively complete work and meet deadlines Good analytical skills to diagnose the problem(s) and find acceptable solution(s) Problem solving skills to methodically and logically work through technical and non‑technical problems and recommend solutions Good report writing skills to create clear, concise reports Research skills to conduct thorough studies Presentation skills to deliver presentations Mentorship skills to coach, guide and assist in developing staff Interviewing skills to probe customers about their needs Benefits Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits package Company Pension Plan with 3% company matching Education support including EI top‑up payments A workplace that prides itself on safety, cleanliness, respect, and results Rewards: monthly incentive program with monetary rewards, service awards in 5‑year increments, company/team events, personal growth, career advancement opportunities Weldco Companies is a subsidiary of IDC (Inuvialuit Development Corporation) and is 100% Inuvialuit owned.
