Job Description
Manager, Technical Services responsible for leading a skilled team of tradespeople and professionals to maintain production equipment at the Winnipeg facility. This position requires you to work from the Winnipeg location five days per week. This position is no longer accepting applications.
Responsibilities Manage and motivate a multi‑skilled workforce (electricians, millwrights, power engineers, and machinists) to support operational activities and achieve high efficiency and excellence. Champion health and safety practices, ensuring compliance with regulations and fostering a safety‑first culture. Achieve performance and attendance management, recruitment, and administration of the collective agreement.
Deliver approved operating plans and objectives, adapting processes to mitigate risks and proactively address challenges. Recommend solutions and evaluate program and service performance using analytical thinking. Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to accomplish shared goals.
Establish and champion equipment reliability, including standardization to enhance operational efficiency. Find and implement opportunities to reduce costs and improve process efficiencies in support of production. Manage the annual training plan to ensure employee development and technical skills.
Ensure compliance with all policies, regulations, guidelines, and best practices. Promote and demonstrate organizational values to create a positive and respectful environment. Qualifications English proficiency essential; bilingualism considered an asset.
University degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience; professional engineering designation, technical accreditation, or trades certification considered assets. Minimum 5 years of related business experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment. Experience leading a high‑performing maintenance planning and work management culture.
Previous leadership or management experience required, preferably in a unionized environment. Operational experience and knowledge regarding health and safety in an industrial environment. Strong leadership, team‑building, and interpersonal skills to develop and motivate a high‑performance team.
Demonstrated expertise in leading technical projects with strong project management skills. Solid understanding of mechanical, electrical, and machining concepts, along with relevant trade legislation. Creative thinker and continuous improvement mindset.
Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Results‑driven, able to analyze KPIs and implement improvements and root‑cause solutions. Strong verbal and written communication skills in English, with the ability to convey information clearly across diverse teams.
Ability to make decisions with sound judgement and execute on decisions with measurable results. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); D365 and AI knowledge considered assets. Ability to perform under pressure and respond effectively to operational challenges such as equipment failure and cost control.
