Overview HUB International Limited, a North American leader in the insurance industry, is hiring an Accounting Manager. This newly created position will address rapid growth and the changing needs of the business. It focuses on mitigating business risks by ensuring business units are in compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, contractual agreements, and external regulations.
The Accounting Manager will work under the direction of the VP, Canada Divisional Controller, and will collaborate with internal and external auditors as well as management teams across the company. The role requires managing multiple concurrent projects, improving processes through data and systems, and applying creativity and flexibility to meet objectives. Short‑term Goals Improve and streamline current workflows across diverse business segments.
System migrations, where applicable. Build a cohesive team dynamic, ensuring adequate segregation, coverage, and support. Job Responsibilities Manage and coordinate the various accounting teams across Canada.
Manage and coordinate the month‑end deliverables, both locally and corporately. Manage, maintain, and implement internal and SOX controls. Coordinate with internal and external audit parties.
Perform in‑house reviews and audits to ensure the team adheres to policy and procedure. Provide guidance to the members of the team and step in to help, as necessary. Liaise with operations and executive management teams for finance‑related inquiries.
Maintain and distribute existing reporting and analysis related to financial and operational metrics. Liaise between finance and operations concerning transaction processing in our Business Management System. Provide ad‑hoc financial and operational analysis to support business decisions.
Research, identify, and communicate key variances relating to financial and operational metrics. Improve upon existing and implement new reporting as requested. Manage any current and future mergers and acquisitions from a financial point.
Implement procedural change to improve workflows and increase efficiency. Liaise with corporate finance to ensure compliance with all corporate requirements and requests. Various other assignments, as required.
Candidate Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance. CPA preferred. 5+ years of experience; experience with a nationally recognized public accounting or insurance brokerage firm is preferred. Ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects both in a group and independently.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities. Strong change management skills.
Strong people skills. Required experience: 5‑7 years of relevant experience. Required travel: No travel required.
Location This position is a hybrid role located in Woodbridge or Oakville, ON. Compensation & Benefits The expected salary range for this position is $95,000 to $120,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate’s skills, experience, working location, and the specific position’s business line, scope, and level. HUB International offers comprehensive benefit and total compensation packages, which could include extended health benefits, disability insurance, RRSP matching, paid‑time‑off benefits, and eligible bonuses, and commissions for some positions.
