Free on‑site parking Position Summary This position, reporting to the General Manager of Test Equipment Group, is responsible for firmware development, implementation and validation on our circuit boards/modules that are integrated into optical test equipment.
As part of a team of experts, you will be collaborating with other members of the group, including electronics, mechanical, system, software and optical engineers. Typical Duties Design/develop/troubleshoot embedded firmware applications, including the architecture and implementation. Follow best practices relative to software development methodologies and revision control.
Take ownership of several product firmware applications/projects from concept to development and ensure they stay on schedule. Provide documentation for product designs, test processes, analyze test results, record observations and perform required calculations. Prepare reports on projects for senior management.
Education University degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Hardware Engineering or equivalent. Experience 5+ years of relevant work experience if in possession of a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering. Skills Programming skills in both C and C++.
Enjoys solving complex technical problems. Experience with embedded real‑time operating systems. Troubleshooting and debugging using IAR, STM32 and ARM tools.
Team player with good verbal and written communication skills. Experience with various communication protocols, e.g. RS232, SPI, I2C, USB and Bluetooth.
The ability to read/annotate electronic schematics, inc. digital, analog and mix‑signal. Understanding of optical principles would be considered an asset. Candidates must be eligible to work in Canada.
