Job Overview LJB Canada, Inc. is a forward-thinking civil and structural engineering firm founded in 1966. With expertise in geospatial, safety, and environmental services, we have delivered projects across all 50 states and several countries. Within our Underground Services Practice, we are seeking a Project Engineer – Environmental in Calgary, AB.
The role requires 3‑6 years of experience on transit or infrastructure projects, including design and construction roles. Compensation ranges from $72,500 to $87,650 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards. Key Responsibilities Review soil management submissions from consultants and contractors, providing constructive feedback, identifying risks, and ensuring adherence to applicable standards and specifications.
Produce technical deliverables according to client specifications. Prepare construction plans and specifications, environmental calculations and design reports, and technical memoranda with appropriate guidance. Communicate technical and non-technical information in a concise, professional manner, including participation in technical meetings and workshops with owners, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Analyze and interpret data and review environmental and technical reports. Prepare technical reporting including memoranda, letters, and reports. Conduct site visits and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Increase LJB’s visibility in the industry by participating in regional initiatives, conferences, committees, and community associations, including any identified professional association activities. Field based assignments will include shift work, weekday, night, and weekend work. Office based assignments will require a standard weekday business hours work schedule.
Other duties as assigned. Key Qualifications 3–6 years of relevant project experience in the planning, design, and construction of a variety of environmental projects. Excellent problem solving, decision making, and teamwork skills.
Excellent technical writing skills and attention to detail. Strong knowledge of provincial regulations and best practices in environmental assessments and soil management. Fieldwork experience in environmental assessments, soil management and/or remediation.
Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, contractors, and clients. Ability to work independently, exercise independent judgment, interact with other staff, collaborate with other disciplines, and mentor junior staff. Education Bachelor’s degree in a relevant area of study (Civil, Geology, Environmental, or related field).
