Overview Box Consulting Group is partnering with a leading utility organization in British Columbia to find an experienced Structural Engineer to join their growing Transmission Lines Engineering team. This is an opportunity to contribute to some of the province’s most significant power infrastructure initiatives, including large-scale transmission projects supporting long-term electrification and clean energy goals. The engineer will work within a highly technical, multidisciplinary engineering team responsible for the design and delivery of transmission infrastructure ranging from 60 kV to 500 kV systems, including overhead lines, telecommunication structures, and supporting infrastructure.

Responsibilities Lead and deliver complex structural design work packages within multi-disciplinary transmission projects. Design and analyze overhead transmission line structures and telecommunication supporting structures in accordance with Canadian and North American standards. Act as Professional of Record (POR) for high-risk or complex transmission infrastructure projects.

Provide structural engineering expertise for capital projects, maintenance programs, and emergency response work. Develop technical specifications, engineering reports, design calculations, and RFP documentation. Review and validate designs produced by external consultants while acting as the Owners Engineer.

Perform structural analysis using specialized transmission design tools and finite element analysis software. Conduct field reviews, attend site meetings, and respond to construction-phase technical queries. Support internal engineering governance by acting as an Independent Checker or Reviewer on technical work.

Contribute to the development and improvement of internal engineering standards and design practices. Mentor engineers and provide subject-matter expertise across internal teams and professional groups. Qualifications Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from a recognized institution.

Eng. registration with Engineers and Geoscientists BC (EGBC) or eligibility for immediate registration. 15+ years of structural engineering experience, specifically within overhead transmission line or telecommunication structure design. Strong expertise designing steel, wood, and FRP transmission structures and telecommunication towers. Advanced experience with PLS‑Tower and PLS‑Pole; familiarity with PLS‑CADD considered an asset.

Deep knowledge of Canadian design codes, CSA standards, and transmission structure design practices. Proven ability to resolve complex structural engineering challenges and deliver technically sound solutions. Solid stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to influence technical decisions.

Demonstrated experience leading technical work within multidisciplinary engineering environments.
