Job Description
Purpose of the Position IEM is currently seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer for our Surrey, B.C. location and will report into our Continuous Improvement manager. Join our transformation journey as a lean professional supporting kaizen activities, standard work documentation, and data‑driven process improvement. This is a hands‑on role ideal for candidates with a passion for lean manufacturing and a desire to grow in a structured CI environment.
This position requires 100% in-office presence in our Surrey offices and does not offer remote work. Key Responsibilities Support cross‑functional kaizen events focused on lean fundamentals, standard work, visual management, flow, problem‑solving and strategic growth/ capacity initiatives Assist in the implementation of tools and processes across operations, supply chain, engineering, and commercial functions Develop internal capability by supporting the training and coaching team members/ leaders in lean thinking, daily management and continuous improvement practices Create improvement roadmaps based on assessments of the business system maturity Enable teams to embrace standardization, accountability, and data‑driven decision making Identify and document internal best practices Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Operations, or a related field; MBA or Master’s preferred 3-5 years of progressive experience in a manufacturing, operations, or continuous improvement, preferably in a multi‑site or matrixed industrial environment Deep understanding of Lean Principles (e.g., 5S, value stream mapping, standard work, visual management, PDCA, SMED, A3 problem solving) Demonstrated success leading cross‑functional kaizen events and system‑wide CI initiatives Understanding of basic ops finance, including P&L impact, cost drivers, and fixed vs. variable costs Strong facilitation, project management and communication skills Demonstrated career ambition with a track record of growth and increasing responsibility; highly promotable with the potential to take on broader leadership roles within a fast‑paced, high‑growth organization Compensation Compensation actually offered for this role will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
