Within the Manulife Global Wealth & Asset Management (GWAM) – Platform Engineering, Platform Reliability Engineer, responsible for maintaining, enhancing our Azure Kubernetes Services, platform operational procedures, and accountable for platform process efficiencies. Assist with critical ITIL processes and ensure requests/issues are completed in a timely manner. Identify, resolve and elevate issues around platform management, compliance, and security patterns.

Ownership of customer issues from inception to resolution. Assist in investigation and resolution of all client and product/platform issues in a multi-vendor environment. Handle multiple cases involving a variety of technologies, protocols, and equipment.

Responsible for consistent delivery of product services on a 24*7 basis within well-defined Service Level Agreement. People Leader Role: No Office location: Toronto - Canada or Boston - USA Work arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from home; Remote working arrangement is not available. Position Responsibilities Platform engineer will work with Platform Services on Azure Kubernetes Services, Azure PaaS, APIM, GHA CI/CD pipelines, Terraform and Github.

Proactively assist in the management of platform operations and configuration. Work with SWIFT Development team to onboard applications into AKS cluster. Work with AKS cluster operations including upgrade and patching.

Manage intake requests, reviewing and completing SWIFT requests according to SLA. Work with Infrastructure as Code terraform templates to deploy needed resources. Collaborate with key partners, other IS groups and operational support teams.

Support development team deployment activities which could occur in the evening and on weekends. Participate in on call rotation. Works with Manulife GWAM Segment internal client and Enterprise Technology Groups, primarily supporting the SWIFT initiative.

Interactions include peers, leads, and directors. Required Qualifications University degree (Computer Science or related subject area preferred) or equivalent experience. Hands‑on experience in Azure Cloud.

Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service and terraform is a must. Knowledge and experience with common Kubernetes tools and primitives: kubectl, pods, deployments, services, YAML manifests. Ability to learn new technologies and keep up to date on the vendor landscape; ability to quickly comprehend the functions, capabilities, and impact of new technologies.

Good interpersonal skills, and a team player. Good communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills. Strong planning and organizational skills.

Familiarity with CI/CD: Terraform, Jenkins, GitHub, Github Actions. Familiarity with Monitoring: New Relic, DEVO, ADX or Azure Monitor. Familiarity with Azure PaaS: AKS, k8s Components.

For Boston - USA hiring, Base Salary range: $90,160 USD - $128,800 USD (mid-point) - $167,440 USD Salary range is expected to be between $86,100.00 CAD - $136,100.00 CAD.
