Overview Everlaw is looking for a Senior Software Engineer with experience building and shipping user‑facing software in complex ecosystems. Transforming legal tech with software and AI is a full‑stack challenge that applies search, databases, data visualization, machine learning/AI, real‑time collaboration, and delightful front‑end user interfaces to the problem space. As a senior engineer you will explore our entire system and work with significant autonomy across the stack, while collaborating with product leads and UX designers to ship features that matter.

Your code must be clean, maintainable, and secure. Location: Full‑time, on‑site position in Oakland, California with an expected hybrid schedule of three days in the office and two days from home. Responsibilities Build customer‑facing features that represent the core of our product, including document and image/multi‑modal processing, collaborative review tools, organization, translation tools, search, review, and more.

Use AI technologies to find evidence rapidly such as document classification, predictive coding, transfer learning, and LLMs. Collaborate with Product, Design, Engineering Operations, Security Engineering, and DevOps to design, implement, and launch new features in production. Help scale our system to larger datasets with hundreds of millions of documents.

Provide technical mentorship to other engineers, becoming an expert in areas of our code base. Review code written by others, applying knowledge of programming languages, design patterns, and best practices. Triage product or system issues, debug, track, and resolve defects.

Provide on‑call support for the product, answering customer questions, triaging defects, and carrying the pager. Contribute to internal and external documentation for engineering consumption and the Everlaw platform. Do technical interviews to help recruit engineers and grow the team.

Qualifications BS or MS in Computer Science, or equivalent coursework. Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, Go, or Rust. Strong knowledge of algorithms, relational databases, API design, and user interface development.

At least 5 years building distributed systems in the cloud with service‑based architecture, testing, maintaining, and launching cloud‑based software. At least 1 year leading or coordinating multi‑developer efforts, including planning and technical breakdown. Experience with AI development tools like Cursor and Claude Code.

Pluses Familiarity with AWS platform. Experience with MySQL, Postgres, or vector databases. Experience with React.

Experience with applied AI usage. Benefits Expected salary range: $173,000 – $251,000 (final offer based on experience and skills).
