Job Description
OVERVIEW STV is seeking a Commercial Manager to join our Major Commercial Project team. The position is hybrid (3 days a week in office) and can be based in one of our national offices, including New York, NY; Newark, NJ; Philadelphia, PA; Boston, MA; Chicago, IL; Atlanta, GA; as well as other offices in Florida, Texas, Arizona, Colorado and Washington. The role requires a broad understanding of contracts, risk, progress planning, cost control and reporting to protect and maximize STV's financial performance.
Location: United States – Atlanta, GA RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure commercial processes and procedures are adhered to. Develop a culture of commercial awareness across the project. In conjunction with the Project Director and Commercial Director, establish a commercial strategy with clear objectives.
Review and respond to all correspondence and meeting records from the Contractor. Identify commercial risks and opportunities and manage them to minimize STV liability. Submit potential change orders in a timely manner in accordance with contractual obligations.
Prepare timely sub‐consultant agreements and coordinate scope with engineering staff. Administer sub‐consultant agreements to ensure accurate liabilities, proper payments, and all necessary notices are issued. Co‐ordinate claims management to provide timely responses.
Provide accurate Profit and Loss (P‐L) and Cost to Complete (CTC) reports per STV procedures. Maintain accurate records. Develop and encourage direct staff to take responsibility for sections of the project.
Fulfil any additional tasks within the scope of the role. COMPETENCIES Minimum of 10 years' experience with large‐scale commercial builder contracting, preferably within the AEC market. Strong financial background and familiarity with contractual law.
Technical knowledge in commercial, contract and risk management. Exposure to large engineering and construction projects. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to resolve problems independently and operate efficiently under pressure. QUALIFICATIONS Degree in construction, engineering or a related discipline. Membership in a relevant professional body.
