ABL is looking for expression of interest from freelance Rig Mechanical Marine Inspection Engineers in Australia, Peru, Bolivia, India and Asia Pacific This role is for candidates who are looking to work on an ad hoc freelance basis and would like to be added to our register of approved freelancers who can work in these areas of the world.
The Role The Mechanical / Marine Inspection Engineer will undertake both rig and vessel condition assessments individually or as part of a multi-disciplined inspection team. The vessel and rig inspections will be conducted in both offshore and shipyard environment world-wide. The mechanical / marine engineer is to undertake vessel and rig inspection surveys of all mechanical aspects of Offshore vessels, Drillships, semi-submersible and Jack-Up type drilling rig.
This being both on the Marine and Drilling package systems. The role will ideally suit a current or former Maintenance Supervisor / Marine Engineer with an in-depth technical knowledge of Marine and Drilling offshore systems. The candidate would possess a good attention to detail.
The role will require 3 main aspects of both vessel and rig inspections, these being documentation of flag state, classification and industry standard documentation, physical visual inspection of the equipment and witnessing of the function testing of the vessel and rigs marine systems and drilling system. A good overview of applicable offshore regulations such as flag state, port state and industry standards and guidelines is required. Upon completion of the inspection detailed condition survey reports will be completed to the ABL-Group standards.
Roles and responsibilities The Vessel / Rig Inspection Mechanical Engineer will work as part of the rig inspection team to complete project specific goals. Duties within these rig inspection projects will include: β’ Assisting were required with project planning β’ Conducting equipment assessments by both visual inspection and observing operability testing and identifying where any non-conformances occur β’ Assist in conducting site team progress and project reports β’ Working as part of an overall inspection team to meet project goals β’ Support onsite clients and rig owner crews to complete rig inspection projects in an efficient manner β’ Attending close out meetings with clients At ABL we are committed to finding the best fit for our team, building a unique and exciting environment.
