Job Description

We are looking for a QA Engineer with a strong commitment to quality and a passion for building reliable, scalable solutions. In this role, you’ll support the day‑to‑day quality assurance activities for a customer‑facing motor insurance product, contributing to the development and improvement of automation across both web and mobile platforms. You will help shape and maintain the squad’s test automation approach, contribute to mobile automation practices, and work closely with senior team members to deliver high‑quality, timely updates across quote‑to‑buy journeys, mobile applications, and customer portal features.

Role: QA Automation Engineer Salary: up to £48,000 depending on experience Location: Liverpool City Centre HQ / Hybrid (3 days in office) Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday What you will be doing: Develop and maintain automated test suites usingPlaywright(web)followingestablished frameworkstandards Writereliable, maintainable automation scriptsaligned with squad needs and wider QA guidelines Identifyautomationopportunities forquote, buy, and portal journeysincollaboration with SeniorQA Executeautomated tests withinAzure DevOps CI/CD pipelinesand troubleshoot failuresContributeto APItest automation forbackend services and third-party integrations Executemobileautomation usingMaestro, followingestablished best practices, based on squad needs. Testnative mobile app functionality, including offline behaviour, push notifications, and device-specificscenarios. Collaboratewith Developers, Product Owners and Business Analysts to ensure requirementsare testable and understood Executeexploratory testing and risk-based testingfornew features and complexchanges Validateintegrations withpaymentgateways, enrichment services, and externaldataproviders Participate in process improvement, Udemy trainings, testcase and automation code reviews.

Aim to become functional SME of the squad/Product group Contributeto QA communitypractices, knowledgesharing, and documentation Trackand report quality metrics (defect leakage, automation coverage) with guidancefrom QA Lead/Tech Lead Activelyparticipate in sprint ceremonies, providing QA input on estimation and planning Suggestprocess improvements withinthe squad What we are looking for: Experience of Automated test suites e.g. Playright (web) Demonstrable knowledge of Azure DevOps CI/CD Pipelines Abitlity to work within cross functional teams Experience in defining and tracking quality metrics Grow with Acorn At Acorn Insurance ,we’reproud of our Liverpool roots — and even prouder of how farwe’vecome.
