This is a key appointment within the business, offering the opportunity to take ownership of the full commercial function whilst working closely with senior leadership. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing multiple live projects simultaneously, typically ranging from £200,000 to £1 million in valu e.This is a hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys being involved in every stage of the commercial lifecycle, from tender and procurement through to final account, whilst helping to shape and develop commercial processes as the business continues its growth journe y.

Benef its:Salary of £60,000 – £70,000 depending on experie nce.Opportunity to join a growing and ambitious civil engineering busin ess.High levels of autonomy and responsibil ity.Clear progression opportunities as the company continues to sc ale.On-site park ing.Company Car Allowance / Vehicle Prov ided The role:Reporting directly to the Director, you will take ownership of the commercial function across a portfolio of civil engineering and groundworks projects ranging from £200,000 to £1 million in value.

This is a hands-on position where you will be responsible for managing the full commercial lifecycle, supporting project profitability, leading commercial decision-making and helping to shape processes as the business continues to grow. Key responsibilities will in clude:Owning the commercial lifecycle from project award through to final ac count.Managing interim valuations, applications for payment, variations and final acc ounts.Producing monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and commercial repo rting.Leading the estimating and quantity surveying fun ction.Reviewing tender opportunities and overseeing pricing and margin str ategy.Managing subcontract procurement, negotiations and supply chain relation ships.Working closely with operational teams and directors on key commercial deci sions.Supporting the development of commercial systems, processes and repo rting.Building strong relationships with clients, subcontractors and stakeho lders.Visiting sites as required to maintain commercial oversight of pro jects.Pr ofile:Proven experience as a Commercial Manager or Senior Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, groundworks or external works.Experience working within a growing SME or owner-managed business enviro nment.Comfortable operating in a hands-on role where no two days are the same.Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously whilst maintaining commercial control and profitab ility.Strong understanding of JCT contracts, with NEC experience advanta geous.Experience managing CVRs, valuations, variations and final acc ounts.Commercially astute with a strong focus on margins and business perfor mance.Confident building relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeho lders.
