Why this role exists: The Power BI Developer is responsible for the design, development, implementation, and support of critical Business Intelligence (BI) reporting solutions. This role manages end-to-end data processes, from extraction and transformation (ETL) to the creation of robust data models, ensuring that business functions such as Finance, Supply Chain, and Merchandising have access to accurate, real-time insights. By collaborating cross-functionally and keeping pace with emerging database tools, this role enhances Officeworks' reporting capabilities to meet evolving commercial needs.

Where you will make a difference: In this role you will: BI Design & Solution Development Translate business requirements into technical specifications to design, build, and productionise high-performing data models. Build robust and functional BI Data Models to execute exceptional reporting for project-critical initiatives. Embed business rules into reporting solutions, ensuring that outputs align with specific functional needs and logic.

Gather and document BI system requirements through active collaboration with cross-functional teams. Data Engineering & Environment Management Manage daily ETL processes (Extract, Transform, Load) using tools to refresh data from sources including SAP BW, SAP HANA, Salesforce, and SharePoint. Develop and execute data testing and validation models prior to BI tool ingestion to ensure total data integrity.

Implement proper configuration management and change controls for any modifications made to business reports. Ensure the availability and performance of BI environments for both internal Support Office users and external Wesfarmers stakeholders. Data Integrity & Reconciliation Perform frequent reconciliations (at least weekly) to ensure data sources remain aligned and reporting accuracy is maintained.

Address and resolve unreconcilable data issues by negotiating and liaising directly with system and data owners. Act as the key contact for problem resolution regarding report functionality, data accuracy, and output quality. Perform first-level reconciliations whenever new data sets or changes to current data structures are introduced.

Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement Design and implement technology best practices, guidelines, and repeatable processes to standardise BI delivery. Proactively look at new processes or data sources to optimise the performance and speed of reporting solutions. Keep up to date with BI and database tools to continuously improve Officeworks' reporting maturity.

Identify and understand anomalies through proactive data profiling to improve overall data capabilities. Leadership & Collaboration Provide technical assistance and cross-training to other team members to build collective capability. Manage stakeholder expectations regarding delivery timelines and outcomes for new reporting requests.

Partner with IT technical teams to deploy software and hardware upgrades that leverage organisational data capabilities. Monitor KPIs of service providers to ensure ongoing compliance with service contracts. Who you will be working with: Internal Leadership: Various functional leaders across Officeworks.

Internal Partners: All technology teams, Data Engineers, and SAP BW Support Engineers. External Partners: Wesfarmers Advanced Analytics Centre and analytics teams across other Wesfarmers brands. What success looks like: Data Reliability: Reports consistently feature the latest data available, enabling the business to make rapid, informed decisions.

Solution Stability: BI solutions are successfully transitioned to support teams with comprehensive documentation and performance benchmarks. Stakeholder Alignment: Strong collaboration results in the successful delivery of key reporting solutions such as Loss-Prevention, B2B, and Balanced Scorecards. Operational Excellence: High availability of BI environments with robust configuration management and minimal downtime.

Certification: DA100 Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate. Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in BI reporting and analysis roles, with a proven track record in a large-scale commercial environment.

Technical Skills: Required experience in Data Modelling, Power BI, SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS), SAP, and Salesforce. Competencies: Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage multiple, changing priorities effectively. Preferred Professional Qualifications: CPA/CA qualification is considered an advantage.

Analytical Skills: Experience in Business Analysis and understanding of Data Architecture. Tool Knowledge: Familiarity with DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and Analysis for Office.
