Job Description Job Description NABRICO Marine Products is seeking a highly skilled, safety-focused Industrial Electrical Technician to join our Maintenance team in Ashland City, Tennessee. In this role, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving electrical systems and industrial equipment that support our barge manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will possess advanced electrical troubleshooting skills, experience with industrial controls and automation systems, and a strong commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
This position plays a critical role in maximizing equipment uptime and supporting production objectives. Our products help transport essential commodities including grain, coal, aggregates, petroleum products, fertilizers, chemicals, and other liquid cargoes throughout the nation's waterways.
In addition to manufacturing dry cargo and tank barges, NABRICO Marine Products is the largest U.S. manufacturer of fiberglass hopper barge covers and produces a complete line of marine deck hardware, including hatches, castings, and winches for towboats and dock facilities. What You'll Do Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain industrial electrical systems and production equipment. Install, maintain, and modify electrical wiring, conduit, motors, motor controls, transformers, switchgear, and distribution systems.
Troubleshoot and repair PLC-controlled equipment, VFDs, HMIs, sensors, and automated production systems. Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
Support equipment upgrades, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electromechanical systems as required. Conduct root cause analysis and recommend corrective actions for recurring equipment failures.
Assist in developing and improving maintenance procedures and documentation. Mentor and provide technical guidance to less experienced maintenance personnel. Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete work orders in a timely manner.
Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and lockout/tagout (LOTO) requirements. Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities. Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need High school diploma or GED required; technical school, industrial electrical certification, or related training preferred. Minimum of five (5) years of industrial electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing, heavy industrial, marine, steel, or related environment. Advanced knowledge of industrial electrical systems, controls, and automation.
Experience troubleshooting PLCs, VFDs, motor controls, relays, sensors, and industrial networks. Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
Experience with preventive maintenance programs and equipment reliability practices. Ability to use electrical testing equipment including multimeters, megohmmeters, clamp meters, and related diagnostic tools. Ability to listen, understand, and follow verbal and written instructions while maintaining safety, quality, and productivity standards.
Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and effectively prioritize multiple tasks. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with operations, maintenance, and engineering personnel.
Preferred Qualifications Journeyman Electrician License or equivalent industrial electrical certification. Experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting. Experience with robotic, automated, or CNC-controlled equipment.
Experience working in heavy manufacturing, steel fabrication, shipbuilding, or marine industries. Experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems). Physical Requirements & Work Environment Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
Ability to work around moving machinery, electrical systems, and production equipment. Ability to climb ladders, stairs, platforms, and access elevated work areas. Ability to work in confined or restricted spaces when required.
Ability to frequently stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and reach throughout the shift. Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull tools, materials, and equipment as required. Ability to work in varying temperatures and weather conditions depending on the work area.
