Job Description Job Description Position Overview We are seeking a results-driven Commercial HVAC Estimator & Sales Representative to support growth across the Arizona market. This hybrid role combines technical estimating expertise with relationship-based sales, targeting new construction, tenant improvement, retrofit, and service opportunities. The ideal candidate understands regional market conditions, excels at interpreting plans/specs, and can confidently guide customers from concept through project close. Key Responsibilities Estimating & Preconstruction Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents for commercial HVAC systems Perform accurate takeoffs and develop detailed cost estimates (labor, materials, equipment, subcontractors) Solicit and evaluate vendor/subcontractor pricing Identify value engineering opportunities and present alternatives Prepare bid proposals, scope clarifications, and exclusions Maintain estimating database and historical cost records relevant to Arizona conditions Sales & Business Development Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, property managers, and owners Identify and pursue new business opportunities across commercial sectors (office, healthcare, industrial, education, retail) Conduct site visits, client meetings, and needs assessments Present proposals, negotiate pricing, and close deals Track leads, bids, and pipeline activity using CRM tools Project Handoff & Support Coordinate with project managers to ensure smooth transition from awarded jobs to execution Participate in kickoff meetings and assist with scope alignment Support change order pricing and client communication throughout project lifecycle Market & Compliance Awareness Stay current with Arizona codes, energy standards, and permitting processes Monitor local market trends, labor conditions, and competitor activity Ensure estimates reflect regional cost factors (heat load demands, material availability, etc.) Qualifications Required: 5+ years of experience in commercial HVAC estimating, sales, or project management Strong knowledge of HVAC systems (RTUs, VRF, chillers, boilers, ductwork, controls) Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and construction documents Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite Valid driver's license, clean driving record and ability to travel locally Preferred: Experience in the Arizona or Southwest U.S. construction market Experience with Wet-Side Mechanical and Plumbing Estimation Familiarity with software such as Bluebeam, Pro-Core, Trimble, FastEST or similar estimating tools Established network of local contractors, developers, or facility managers Background in mechanical contracting or engineering Key Skills & Competencies Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Effective communication and negotiation abilities High attention to detail and organizational skills Self-motivated with a results-oriented mindset Ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines simultaneously Compensation & Benefits Base salary + commission/bonus structure tied to sales and awarded projects Vehicle allowance or company vehicle Health, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) with company match Paid time off and holidays Ongoing training and professional development Work Environment Combination of office, remote work, and field/site visits Fast-paced, deadline-driven environment aligned with construction bid cycles Collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, and clients Equal Opportunity Employer Statement Sunstate Mechanical and its affiliates are proud to be Equal Opportunity Employers.
